The Bayahibe Rose is endemic to the Dominican republic,It is also the country's national flower.It and the rest of the genus Pereskia are the few cacti with leaves.Its natural habitat includes subtropical or tropical dry forests on the Southeast coast of Hispaniola,Mainly around the town of bayahibe.From which the plant was named.It is protected by the Dominican Republics law 146-11 which ensured its protection due to its endangered status.
